This notice explains how Malawi Unwritten uses personal information collected through this website. If you have a question or want to exercise a privacy right, email hello@malawiunwritten.com.
Information we collect
- Enquiry details: your name, email address, country, organisation (for trade enquiries), journey interests, likely dates, party size, selected topics and message.
- Communications: information in follow-up emails or other correspondence.
- Technical and security information: basic request and security logs and a one-way hash derived from the network address used to submit an enquiry. Recent submission attempts are kept in the active rate-limit store for about 15 minutes.
Please do not send passport, payment-card or detailed medical information through the enquiry form. We do not intentionally collect this information through the website.
Why we use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to enquiries and discuss requested journeys or potential trade relationships;
- take steps requested before a possible agreement;
- protect the website and enquiry service from spam, abuse and security threats; and
- keep necessary business records and meet legal obligations.
Depending on the circumstances, our lawful bases are taking steps at your request before a contract, our legitimate interests in responding to genuine enquiries and operating a secure website, and compliance with legal obligations. The form checkbox confirms that you understand how the submitted details will be used; it is not consent to receive marketing.
Who receives information
Information may be handled by providers that host the website or deliver our email, and by professional advisers or authorities where necessary. If you ask us to progress a journey, we may share relevant details with an appropriate travel partner or Malawi-based supplier, but only where needed to deal with your request. We do not sell personal information.
International use
Malawi Unwritten connects UK-facing enquiries with Malawi-based travel planning. This means information may be processed in the UK, Malawi or another country used by our service providers. Where data protection law requires it, we use an appropriate transfer mechanism or safeguard. Contact us if you would like more information about a particular transfer.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and correspondence records only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, manage the relationship, resolve a dispute or meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. We then delete or anonymise them when they are no longer required.
Your rights
Depending on the law that applies, you may have rights to access, correct or erase your information; restrict or object to its use; receive a portable copy; or withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if UK data protection law applies, or to the relevant supervisory authority where you live.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when our website, providers or information practices materially change. The date above shows the current version.
