Malawi Unwritten · 21 day journey
A private three-week passage shaped by longer stays, northern lake life, river safari and repeated locally hosted moments.
The journey
This is not a ten-day route stretched over three weeks. The longer journey changes the quality of travel: arrival recovery is built in, remote landscapes are given several nights, and cultural encounters can develop through context rather than a single token visit.
The route moves north before turning steadily south through river country, highlands, tea landscapes and a final Majete wildlife chapter.

Longer stays allow the journey to recover, notice and respond instead of moving on every morning.
The central wilderness and northern lake add a quieter scale unavailable in the short southern routes.
Liwonde, Zomba, tea country and Majete form a clear progression to Blantyre.

Days 10–14: Liwonde from the water, then Zomba at a slower pace.

Days 15–21: Tea, Mulanje and a contrasting final Majete safari.

Woodland, river and locally led context begin the route beyond the capital.

Several nights allow the lake to be experienced as a place rather than a view.

Liwonde and Majete bookend the southern half with distinctly different wildlife habitats.
