The journey

What this journey feels like

Four weeks permits something that shorter journeys cannot: meaningful regional contrast, slower stays and a genuine progression through Malawi’s distinct landscapes. Each region earns its own chapter rather than being rushed through.

Northern Malawi and Nyika introduce remoteness, cooler air and broader horizons before the journey turns south through river country, Zomba and a second lake chapter.

Tea country, Mulanje and Majete complete the arc, with buffer nights and backup routing treated as part of the journey rather than hidden logistics.

Why 28 days works

The full geographic arc

Central woodland, northern water, high plateau, river country, southern lake and tea landscapes each hold a distinct place.

Two lake chapters

The northern shore provides depth and community context; the southern shore creates rest before the highlands.

Time for remoteness

Nyika’s access, variable weather and long roads are protected by real stays and deliberate buffers.
