The southern lake works naturally with Blantyre, Zomba, Liwonde and the southern highlands. It can combine a shoreline or island rhythm with water activity and locally grounded context without consuming an expedition-scale transfer.
The north is more dramatic and less easily compressed. Steep landscapes, quieter bays and longer road movements suit the 21- and 28-day journeys, where the lake can become a substantial chapter rather than a short finish.
